No digitization without process management

The background to all digitization efforts is ultimately the fundamental improvement of processes. Improvement can have many meanings: a better service for the customer, increased throughput times, savings of resources, use of new technical possibilities, better cooperation, more flexible deployment of personnel, etc.

Requirements for successful digitization

In order to digitalize processes, it is essential to know the process landscape well enough. In order to be able to keep track of how possibilities of digitization can contribute to the above improvements within individual processes or across processes or even beyond the boundaries of one's own organization, a central repository for the process knowledge of the entire organization is practically unavoidable.

Quam is the perfect solution

Quam is designed as an organization-wide platform in which all information on processes, structures, applied regulations, standards, laws, IT systems and other resources and responsibilities are modelled and stored in a central location. These structures can easily be tagged with additional features for digitization level, digitization potential, digitization approach, etc. to make them easily accessible to all within the organization for the purpose of preparing and implementing digitization projects.

In the Quam, already available digitization implementations or concrete tools that already exist within the organization and could possibly be made usable for other user groups within the organization with little effort can be made known.

In addition also by no means company-wide all processes would have to be modeled and seized immediately with same granularity. To begin with, it is sufficient to start with a basic process map and basic organizational structures. Subsequently, the IT organization could then supplement known IT systems and, for example, the quality management system with available process and work instructions.

In the following, the system can be supplemented over time with sufficient granularity, e.g. with departmental or location-related content, and the processes can be networked to determine where support through digitisation would generate the greatest benefit, which concrete digitisation approaches have already been implemented, which digitisation projects are already underway and which concrete digitisation ideas already exist. Of course, the focus should initially be on business and competition-critical processes with a high number, frequency and process costs.
